I don't have any experience using one, but I think it would definitely be overkill for an 8x10 shed. You might look into building a bucket style humidifier with an ultrasonic fogger. The only downside (as many of us are experiencing) is that the fogging units aren't very reliable. Some last a few months, some last a few years. There isn't any real quality control. Still, it would cost you $200 or less to build one.
On the other hand, you could stock up on a few $40 Vick's ultrasonics, which would do the trick for an 8x10 shed. Depends how much automation you want.
