Orchids are sensitive to minerals especially salts, which is found in water and can kill the plant. Hard water with high mineral content such as well water can turn orchid leaf tips brown. Even too much fertilizer can cause brown leaf tips. Due to overly moist environments the orchids get fungal infections which causes brown tips. You can remove the brown leaf tips by slicing them off with a clean and sterilized razor blade and treating with a fungicide.

Remember that you don’t need to repot just because the roots are growing out of the pot. Most orchids grow on trees in the wild and their roots are used to wandering everywhere. It’s natural for them to venture out of the pot. And don’t trim those roots either. These roots are functional and they help your plant become strong.
