Default "K-Lite" Fertilizer

In the March issue of the AOS Orchids magazine, there will be an article by Rick Lockwood entitled "What do Orchids Eat?". It includes some interesting revelations about the long-term negative effects of excessive potassium in the diet of epiphytes.

In the Fall of 2011, a bunch of us (including Rick, as he originated the concept) began experimenting, using a low-K fertilizer derived for us by Dr. Bill Argo, the "MSU Fertilizer" guy. To-date, there are almost 100 folks from all over the US, Canada, and several other countries around the globe using it, and it is proving to be an excellent orchid food. I won't go into details here - read the article when it comes out - but we are the sole retail source of the formula, available at our online store.

Just an update - since the article has come out, the stuff has been flying off of the shelves.

We normally apply a $5 surcharge to orders under $20* , but for folks wanting to try a 2# jar of the K-Lite, and only ordering that, we waive that fee.

* We don't charge for packing materials, labor, or include a "handling charge" or inflate our actual, discounted shipping costs, so this is a "break-even" factor on small orders.
