Default frost damaged orchid

I hope someone can help us save our orchid. It's been in a hanging basket under a maple tree for years now. we live in Seminole,FL and have had the coldest winter on record. Neither of us thought to bring the plant indoors during the cold snaps. We have not cut anything back yet and I wanted to ask some experts before we even touch it! I have no clue if there is any living part of it left. My question is an overall... what do we do? and how far is it safe to cut it back if it is still alive and trying to recover? it has grown huge over the many years and we were considering dividing it prior to the winter. is it still ok to do that? We welcome any and all suggestions. Thanks!

Phyllis

A picture would be most helpful.
