Default Wils.?

I recently bought an orchid that was of the above parentage but have no idea what a Wils. is. Help BTW is there a list anywhere on the site that can be easily accessed that untangles the background of an orchid. There are so many new hybrids available that the somewhat limited knowlege I have is proving inadequate. Thanks for any help.

Wils. is an abbreviation of the hybrid genus Wilsonara.

Thanks for the prompt reply Ricardo. It is funny, my plant's flower looks nothing like the one you posted, however, the color is very similar.

You may be confusing my avatar picture, which is of the orchid Arachnis flos-aeris var. insignis with a picture of a Wilsonara. Here is a link to more Wilsonara information.

Default Wils?

Yes, I realized that just about as soon as I clicked on the send button. I'm new to the site and had not seen avitars yet. And thanks for the info. on Wilsonara. One could make a career of collecting only them. Next step, cultural info. Thanks again.

Wilsonara is an intergeneric hybrid between the three orchid genera Cochlioda, Odontoglossum and Oncidium (Cda x Odm x Onc). I would imagine they require intermediate temps and would give them care similar to Odontoglossums

The Wilsonaras are an intergeneric hybrid in the oncidium family... I have an odontoglossum/oncidiinae intergenic called Nettie Valentine. She's just flawless in bloom.

Although, the Wilsonaras bear more resemblance to the Miltonias.
