rooting hormones

Hi Guys!
Has anyone used any rooting hormones like rootone or one of the others?
I'm asking because I have a catt which needs some help with root development.
Wondering if I should just bag it or may be dip it in rootone & mount it or what?
Any ideas or experiences?

Powdered rooting hormones are entirely to concentrated for use on orchids. It is more appropriate to use a dilute liquid such as Dyna-Gro K-L-N or SuperThrive. (Don't try to dilute Rootone, as it is intentionally insoluble so it won't wash off woody cuttings.)

Add about a teaspoon to a gallon of tepid water and immerse the entire plant for 30-60 minutes. After that, you can p[ot it up or try the "sphag-n-bag" technique to recover the roots.

Rooting hormones don't accelerate the root growth, they tend to stimulate the plant into growing roots, which will then grow at whatever rate the palnt and conditions permit. Four- to six weeks seems fairly standard to get them reestablished.

If you can warm the thing up significantly, it will greatly accelerate the growth rate. Courtesy of another grower's recommendation, I now put all transplants and rescue plants on a plant heat mat (a 17W one that fits into a standard nursery tray), and that cuts that time in at least half.

You might also make it a practice to use liquid seaweed once a month or so. Seaweed can grow as much as a foot a day.

When starting a new plant from a leaf or stem cutting, the cutting will be more likely to form roots and create a new plant if a rooting hormone is used.

While commercial rooting hormone can be used there are organic homemade versions that work as well.

To make rooting hormone soak the yellow-tipped shoots of a weeping willow tree in water. A tea made from the bark of a willow tree is also effective. When using the shoots or bark soak them for 24 hours prior to using.

Some people have found that using honey makes an effective rooting hormone as well.
