An oddly shaped flower with jutting lip, intermediate in size (5cm), with a sweet fragrance, on a plant which blooms numerous times a year. Helcias were re-combined with Trichoplia about a decade ago and recent DNA studies have verified this placement. This one has been used in a couple of hybrids with other members of Trichopilia and I am working on combining the other two former helcias, callichroma and brevis, with fellow Trichoplias as well; they have wonderful color and markings to add to any hybrid. I love the ruffled, patterned lip.
