This flower was a delightful surprise, blooming on a small division I tied to a basket last spring. I was stunned when I peeked into its one new growth and discovered a bud peeking back. This species grows no visible sheath but sends its buds up through the spread leaves of a new growth.

Fabulous! I have a seedling of Cattleya schilleriana var. sanderiana 'Yardley' X self that put up a new growth with a nice sheath this spring but I do believe that it is blind.

Pantoufle - I have a C schilleriana var sanderiana that should be blooming size but has yet to flower. New leads are up and coming and I've got my fingers crossed.
