Default Hello from Norfolk, VA

Hi All -

I was bitten by the orchid bug about a year ago, and since then I've amassed a collection of over 30 orchids. Most are standard size hybrid Catts, they are my absolute favorite. I've had pretty good luck getting several to bloom, I converted my home office to an "orchid room"...large south facing bay window with shear curtains, room humidifier, and a ceiling fan seem to do the trick!

Here's a picture of me taken last week, standing amidst the thousands of orchids at Chadwick and Sons (outside Richmond)...I was IN HEAVEN :-)

Hello, Paganbuzz, and welcome to the forum. I share your love of catts, although my favorites are the spotted bifoliates. I'll be on cloud nine today when I attend one of my favorite orchid shows and hope to find a spotty to add to my collection.

Hi and welcome to the Forum. I'm in Alexandria, VA and having visited Chadwick and Sons, completely understand how heavenly that experience is. Are you a member of an orchid society in the Norfolk area?
Looking forward to having you contributing here on the forum, sounds like you have plenty of experience to share.

Default Orchids in Norfolk...

Hi Mike -

I will be attending the Tidewater Orchid Society for the first time in a few weeks...I recently joined AOS, and got my membership materials today. I can't wait for the first issue of the magazine!

I've purchased several orchids from Chadwick, they have all been great bloomers. They are a bit pricey, but they really are customer service oriented, and I know I will get a top notch plant. Richmond is only about a 90 minute drive, so it's worth the trip.

Always good to be part of a local orchid society too. Not much substitute for face to face conversations about growing practices and seeing plants in person that you only saw in pictures previously. And couldn't agree more about price/quality. Chadwick is a great place to get plants.

Take care, Mike
