Just wondering what do you think about playing music to your plants ? Is it beneficial ? I like playing some nice classical (mainly violin) music while I'm looking after them

Hello, Jessica, and welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of orchids! Playing the classics while you enjoy your orchids sounds like a wonderful way to relax and I doubt they will ever object!

Some studies have found that some music is beneficial. Like Thunder, sound is a vibration and vibrations can be used to do many things - from making someone go to the bathroom, or force a plant to open it's stomata.

There are some studies available on-line recommending the type of music. Rock n Roll, Techno are bad choices , Bach and other classic music in the higher tones and frequencies are ideal.

I know Orchids magazine has run article(s) about artificially inducing blooming in phals through longer light periods but since my memory isn't what it used to be, I can't recall just when. You might check the archives on line. As with most things related to orchids, there's just not one general rule. Good luck.
