Default Hi from Chicago

Well . . . actually, a suburb of Chicago called Des Plaines. I'm pretty new at orchids - started growing them about 3 months ago. I am doing mostly Catts, mounted. My philosophy - which may change, since I'm new - is that the best thing you can do for an orchid while it is young is get it on a mount! Those roots love the open air and it is WAAAYY easier to check their health on a mount and avoid the dreaded overwatering! I have a spare bedroom dedicated to them, with a humidifier that keeps the humidity around 50%, and hang them under a 4', 4 light lamp of 20,000 lums. They seem pretty happy so far!!

Hello from Memphis. I also grow my Catts underlights (T5s and T8s) with good growth and flowers. They do get 4 months of badly needed hot weather outside during the warmer months. Glad to have you on board.
