Question HPS light

I'm wondering how many hours a day and how close to the orchids I should use a Hight Pressure Sodium light. It is 150 Watts.
The fluorescent lights, T5 high output, are a total of 216 Watts. There are 4 of them and 48" long. They are kept on for 12 hrs/day. All 4 of the bulbs are "grow" lights, not the red or blooming type. The orchids are catts, phals, oncidiums and one vanda.
Thanks much.

One of the most key factor in growing healthy orchids is light. I have read an article which might help you about the grow lights.

Default article

Jean,

Thanks for the article. After reading it , I hope I didn't make a mistake by buying the sodium lamp. Maybe the 4 fluorescent bulbs will balance out the sodium one. If the orchids start looking leggy I'll know it's from the HPS.
Thanks for your help.
