Default Dichaea hystricina in situ

This species is found in the upper reaches of the Caribbean National Forest in Puerto Rico. It is not unusual to see plants in its favored habitat, however I had missed the blooming season several times. Last August I finally found a plant with flowers. In South America Dichaea are pollinated by euglossine bee, however there are no euglossine bees in Puerto Rico.
